The Beginning

How It Started

CA Anil Nahata is a Chartered Accountant who, having built his professional practice, made a choice that most practitioners do not: he turned his expertise toward education. Not as a side activity, but as a vocation.

In 1992, the professional commerce education landscape in Central India was limited. Students who wanted to study CA or CS seriously faced significant barriers — the quality coaching was elsewhere, the local options were inconsistent, and the gap between the students of Indore and the students of Mumbai or Delhi was visible in the results.

CA Anil Nahata's founding premise was simple and radical in equal measure. He founded Nahata Professional Academy in Indore with that premise not as a statement in a brochure — but as a lived commitment in every hiring decision, every student interaction, and every result that followed.

Over 35 years, CA Anil Nahata built more than an institution. He built a culture of mentorship that has outlasted every trend in education — from correspondence courses to EdTech. Three decisions define that culture.

The Decision to Hire on Industry Credentials, Not Teaching Experience Alone
From NPA's early years, CA Anil Nahata insisted that the people who taught CA and CS had done more than study them. Faculty who had practiced, who had worked in the profession, who could answer a student's question not just from a textbook but from experience. This standard — industry experience as a prerequisite for teaching — is now the backbone of Nahata Professional Academy's faculty model.

The Decision to Build a Campus, Not Just a Classroom
When NPA could have remained a rented-room operation — as many coaching institutes do — CA Anil Nahata invested in physical infrastructure. A dedicated campus. A library built for serious students. Study rooms for those who needed a place to work beyond class hours. Hostel facilities for outstation students. These decisions cost more and took longer. They also built the trust of every parent who visited the campus and saw an institution, not a setup.

The Decision to Evolve
Perhaps the decision that speaks most clearly to CA Anil Nahata's character is his willingness to evolve the institution he built. Nahata Professional Academy was not created because the original institution had stopped working. It was created because the world that NPA's students were entering had changed, and an institution that does not change with its students' world eventually serves a world that no longer exists.
